Electricity accounts for over 62 % of the operating cost and decides the profitability. Presently, the majority of cold storages depend upon the supply of this electricity through grid supply from State Electricity distribution company or the utilities and the diesel generator sets or DG SETS.

These are in addition to the many fixed charges , surcharges, taxes and duties.
