Sustainable development goals are a collection of worldwide targets and goals set by the United Nations to improve the overall quality of life of the people worldwide. It consists of 17 goals within it. It was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 for 2030 to be achieved.

The Sustainable Development Goals are:

The 7th goal of the sustainable development goals focuses on affordable and clean energy. In this it aims at worldwide access to clean and efficient energy by the use of increased amount of renewable energy by an economic approach and also by creating a number of employment opportunities for the youth. It also focuses on a burning issue of climate change and environmental pollution and its degradation. For this it focuses on more usage of renewable resources and energies like solar, wind, tidal, geothermal etc.

Goal 7th Clean & Affordable Energy

The targets set up by the SDGs (Sustainable development goals) in this regard are: by the year 2030 ensuring worldwide access to energy services which can be relied on, doubling the rate of the global energy efficiency, rise in share of renewable energy, expanding the infrastructure of sustainable energy services, to facilitate the international cooperation in the field of energy sector across the globe. It is trying to increase the investment also in the field of clean energy in terms of both private and public investments. It is also forming up a regulatory framework of policies and new and innovative business models to build up this sector.

Thus the United Nations through sustainable development goals is trying to facilitate solar energy and other forms of renewable energies in the countries so that the worldwide scenario of energy sector is raised by its policies and schemes.
